About Sodium Hypochlorite

Sodium hypochlorite is an unstabilised liquid chlorine donor used where a site doses through a metering pump rather than handling solids. Supplied at 10% and 12% w/v, with a low-bromate potable grade available. Strength declines with time and temperature, so consignments are dated.

Handling & storage

Corrosive and light-sensitive. Store below 25 °C out of direct sun in vented HDPE. Never mix with acid — this releases chlorine gas. Rotate stock. Refer to the safety data sheet before handling or use.

What does RNJ Trading supply?

What grades and pack sizes are available?
SDIC granules and tablets are supplied in 5 kg and 10 kg pails, 25 kg and 50 kg HDPE drums and 1,000 kg jumbo bags. TCCA 90 comes in pails and 25 kg and 50 kg drums. Calcium hypochlorite comes in 45 kg and 50 kg drums and in pails. The pH range — sodium bisulphate, sodium bicarbonate and soda ash — comes in 25 kg and 50 kg bags and jumbo bags. Sodium hypochlorite is supplied in cans, drums, IBCs and bulk.
Are these products classified as dangerous goods?
Several of them are. SDIC is UN 2465, TCCA 90 is UN 2468 and calcium hypochlorite is UN 1748, all oxidising solids; sodium hypochlorite is UN 1791 and sodium bisulphate is UN 2837. That classification governs how they are packed, labelled, loaded and transported, and it applies to you as well as to us once the goods are in your care.
